Simple animated graph

Using transitions we can easily animate a graph. In this example we will be sampling a multivariate normal distribution for our data points.

Zoom & Pan

Adding zooming and panning to a graph is pretty easy. It does require we handle our axis and graph rendering slightly differently so it’s easier to redraw them. And we need to add clipping.

Line graph with error bars

Creating a line graph with error bars is a bit more involved. There are no generator functions for error bars, so we just have to created them ourselves, though using the data and join methods this is going to be fairly easy.

Using node we can create and save graphs so they can just be embedded as images rather than having to be rendered from data client-side. However this requires some additional considerations since D3 doesn’t work from node out of the box.

Creating a simple line graph using D3 is pretty easy, after doing a Basic Setup we just have to add a path and possibly a legend.
